Project Description:This project consists of the reconstruction of 2.38 miles of Neptune Road between Westchester Drive and Partin Settlement Road (including the Partin Settlement intersection), landscaping, signalization and relocating the existing pedestrian bridges. In addition, incidental work including milling and resurfacing, drainage and safety improvements, fencing, detention ponds, grassing, signing and improved pavement markings will be done. Utilities work will also be done and will include the investigation and relocation of several different needed services (power, water, fiber optics, phone, telecommunications and cable services) provided by a host of different companies. This project is unique in that each concerned party gathered in a preconstruction conference to discuss ideas that would reduce total cost and time by having varying work practices executed simultaneously. This is a concept that has wide support but has never been implemented due to the massive scheduling conflicts involved with adjusting utilities. The Neptune Road project represents the chance for Osceola County to establish itself as an innovator within the construction industry and set a standard for cost savings through streamlined planning and execution. |
